Conditional Offer of Place: Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Mechanical Engineering

Your application for registration as a doctoral candidate at the University of Auckland has been reviewed by the Dean of Graduate Studies on behalf of the Board of Graduate Studies, and we are happy to inform you that your registration has been approved.

Your proposed thesis title is "Soft Robotics - Sensing, Actuation and Control".

Once you have satisfied the conditions of your offer of place, the University will assess whether you are eligible to be considered for a University of Auckland Doctoral Scholarship. We will communicate this outcome in the email we send confirming your registration.

Within ten working days of you accepting the offer of place and meeting all of your conditions, the School of Graduate Studies will send you an email confirming your registration. This confirmation of registration email will include a Fees Estimate and will constitute your formal 'unconditional offer'.

基本背景：陈同学  研二  哈尔滨工业大学 机械工程专业  GPA80 新西兰奥克兰大学博士录取

学生从研一就开始考虑出国，自己从本科开始就是读机械专业的，所以自己也想以后从事机械行业。之前考虑的是英国，但是由于英国的大学很少给奖，对于陈同学来说读博士全自费经济压力也会大些，学生不想给家里增添负担，还是希望能拿奖，于是给学生建议了申请英国的学校然后申请国家的CSC奖学金，因为我们拥有英国大部分的学校的代理权以及申请优先权，英国南安普顿大学发布了与中国CSC合作的5个名额博士申请名额，我立刻帮陈同学争取到了一个。同时学生也考虑新西兰的奥克兰大学，奥克兰大学是新西兰最好的学校。由于新西兰的国情，申请博士的学费等同于本地学生，学费低廉，所以也是学生的备选之一，后来学生经过一系列的考虑，将来没想好移民还是想回国就业，还存在很多的不定因素，所以考虑两个国家套申，而且学生选择的这两个学校资源以及地理位置比较适合自己去学东西，同时还能冲刺更好的名校。学生选校思路相对比较保守，同时也想更偏向机械自己的研究方向。经过我们与院校的老师多次套词，争取能帮陈同学申请到自己理想的专业研究方向。在我们的不懈努力下，终于帮陈同学分别申请到了新西兰奥克兰大学的录取通知书，学校表示会根据他进一步提供的材料去核定是否给奖以及奖励多少奖学金。
